Kelsey Gipe is the 2019-2020 Clinical Ethics Fellow at Sutter Health’s Program in Medicine and Human Values. She received her PhD in philosophy from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2018. Her primary areas of research are biomedical ethics and ethical theory, with a particular emphasis on issues in clinical healthcare pertaining to vulnerable patient populations. Current research projects focus on end-of-life care, medical aid in dying, issues of informed consent and proxy consent, disclosure of incidental findings from pediatric genetic testing, distribution of scarce health resources, and understanding the relation between implantable medical technology and the self.
