Dr. Kelsey Gipe is a Clinical Bioethicist with the Program in Medicine and Human Values at Sutter Health, providing in-person ethics consultation services at Sutter Bay Area hospitals. Dr. Gipe obtained a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2018. Primary areas of research are biomedical ethics and value theory, with a particular emphasis on issues in clinical healthcare pertaining to vulnerable patient populations. Current research projects focus on end-of-life care, relational notions of autonomy, and exploring the relation between implantable medical technology and the self.
